Solution Focused Brief Therapy

Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) is a goal-oriented therapeutic approach that focuses on finding solutions rather than dwelling on problems. It aims to put emphasis on your strengths, resources, and abilities to create the positive changes you’re looking to see. It makes use of a collaborative approach between you and your therapist to identify specific effective steps towards what you are envisioning for your future. Clients typically see a significant increase in hopefulness and motivation, since the path forward is actually clearer, realistic and purposeful.

Because a lot of our clients struggle with a sense of self-worth, it is often difficult for them to recognize exactly what accomplishments they have made or see their progress in any area. This modality highlights achievements to combat constant striving, low self-efficacy and a sense helplessness, and bring to remembrance the environment, beliefs and behaviors that have contributed to past successes. Through this approach, clients gain confidence and a sense of empowerment to create meaningful and lasting change in their lives.
